The 5 Signs You NEED To Hire A Social Media Manager

Social media popularity is continuously growing, with no sign of slowing down. In 2020 alone, social media platforms gained 490 million users  year (that’s a 13.2% increase, year over year; the previous year’s growth was only 7.2%). The popularity of these platforms is undeniable!

Although the majority of accounts currently on social media are personal accounts, that is not to say that the business accounts on there are not being interacted with or showing results. In fact, it is quite the contrary. 81% of people on Instagram use the platform to search for products and services, with 200 million people visiting a business profile at least once every day.

These accounts can be used in many different ways; to drive traffic to your website, to promote your new products, to showcase your work, to raise awareness, to engage with customers – the possibilities really are endless with social media!

So you get it – if your business does not have a social media account (s), you are at a huge disadvantage to your competitors.

Ok great, we have established that having a social media account is a necessity. But that is not even half of the job.

Social media is a bit of a mine field and mastering it is no short feat. It is not as simple as uploading a pretty image with a nice caption and suddenly your business is flooded with leads and ready to buy customers.

No.

It doesn’t work like that.

Successful social media management requires strategy planning, community management, insight analysis, engagement, content creation, engaging copywriting, creative mindset and monitoring of the latest trends (to name a few of the skills needed).

There is a reason people train for years and go through extensive training to become professional social media managers.

It’s not easy.

Anyone can create a social media profile but barely anyone can make it successful.

So we have put together the 5 main signs you NEED to hire a social media manager:

1. You’re not social media savvy

Social media is an ever evolving world which requires time and effort to keep on top of. With every new update, there are new tools to learn and implement. And quite simply, this can be a little confusing. If you know you are falling into this category, it is definitely best to hand this job over to the experts!

2. Engagement is low

Even if you may be doing every thing you think you can with your page, engagement may still be low. And if this is the case then your page isn’t reaching enough people and you won’t be  getting the results you need to be successful. A professional social media manager will be able to spot the cracks that you aren’t able to and get your engagement where it needs to be.

3. You are stretched too thin

Listen, we get it – running your own business is time consuming. Similarly, running a successful social media is time consuming. Give yourself a break and let a social media manager put in all the hours to your social media while you focus on what is important – running the business!

4. Social media is central to your marketing strategy

The more important social media is to your marketing strategy, the more risky it is trying to implement it yourself. If this is the main way you are intending to bring in new customers/ clients, it makes sense to have a trained individual in control of it.  You wouldn’t try and make your new range of swimsuits for your new line from scratch if you had never used a sewing machine before, would you? ( I hope not).  So why try with your social media?

5. Writing just isn’t your thing

Social media is more than just posting nice pictures; the captions to the images can be equally as important – especially for businesses. Your captions need to be relatable to your ideal customer but also represent your brand voice. Also, careful attention needs to be taken to ensure you are using the right hashtags, this requires research and monitoring over time. Our SMM’s are trained in creating engaging copy and appropriate hashtags to help drive your business objectives.

If any of these points resonate with you then we think it is time to hang up your social media dancing boots.

Let us do the dancing.

No but jokes aside, as a business owner, your social media presence and success should definitely be at the forefront of your mind. However, that is not to say that you should be the one attempting it.

Spend your time speaking to clients.

Having meetings.

Selling products.

Networking.

Managing your workforce.

Planning your empire.

You know, the usual.
